Gary W. Lee, CPA
Guidance that helps maximize your wealth
Experience
A member of Yount Hyde Barbour since 1981, Gary has more than 40 years of experience in providing tax, accounting, estate and business advisory services to individuals, partnerships, limited liability companies and corporations, with a focus on construction contractor accounting and auditing. As leader of the YHB Family Wealth Services Team, Gary assists high net worth individuals and their families with estate and trust planning and administration, business and family succession planning, and tax planning and compliance. He has been named a Super CPA in estate and trust services by Virginia Business magazine.
Expertise
Gary’s forte is making sure that a client’s estate plan is properly structured and fully completed. He monitors implementation and works with the client’s attorney, investment manager and other advisors to see that assets have been properly assigned to trusts, investments are performing well and all reporting requirements are met. Also, he educates younger members of the client’s family about wealth management, so they are familiar with the techniques and responsibilities of wealth management and ready to take over when a client’s assets passes to them.
Approach
Gary believes that frequent face-to-face interaction with clients is the key to building the understanding and trust necessary for providing top-level client service and lasting client relationships. He strives to maintain the continuity of his service teams, so clients work with the same professionals and the firm can efficiently deliver a higher level of service. Besides taking time to understand a client’s financial situation, Gary pays attention to family dynamics and the financial management competencies of various family members, so he can determine the full range of the client’s needs and the services required to meet them.
