Fall not only brings the changing of seasons and the start of football season, for public accounting firms it also marks the beginning of the fall recruiting season. For many college undergraduate and graduate students studying Business and Accounting, Public Accounting offers an attractive and exciting career opportunity. We could not agree more! Where else can you quickly develop skills that will last a lifetime? Where else can early in your career you interact with a dynamic client base of individuals, businesses and not-for-profit organizations? We can’t think of a better career for a young professional or a better place to start than with YHB.
YHB actively recruits on college campuses every year in the fall and we typically hire as many as 6 to 8 students for entry level Associate positions. We also interview and select 8 candidates for our internship program which takes place each summer during June and July.
Our on-campus recruiting efforts are focused primarily on accounting majors at 9 of this regions premier universities, although we also consider students from other schools. The schools where our recruiting efforts are targeted include James Madison, Shenandoah University, Shepherd University, University of Virginia, University of Richmond, William and Mary, Virginia Commonwealth, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia University.
In September we attend a variety of career fairs, ‘Meet the Firms’ and other networking events and also conduct presentations for Beta Alpha Psi or other accounting related student fraternities and organizations. In October we dispatch our campus ambassadors and alumni to conduct the on-campus interviews and invite our top candidates back for office interviews and tours. Job offers for both entry level associates and internship positions are normally extended at the end of October or early November.
