As an accounting firm we’re known for being practical – we help our clients and our community alike. We also have a community within YHB where we have fun. Read some of the ways we are currently giving back to the community while having a great time.
Food Bank Donations. Since September 2009 YHB has gathered over a ton of food for our community food banks. This journey began with the VSCPA Day of Service. As a firm we have come together for one cause and served our community.
Firm Day – YHB holds our annual Firm Day in August. All of our staff meet in one place for one day of learning and laughter. We’re able to place faces with names and voices with whom we work all year. It is a great day to celebrate YHB. In 2009 we held a video contest. Each team completed a three-minute video to show how they work together toward a common goal. One video has become famous in its own right – I’m on an Audit became the national winner Accounting Tomorrow’s video contest in 2010.The auditors are also featured in the VSCPAs 2012 calendar. View this award winning video from our Heritage & Culturepage.
5k Walk – The ladies of Yount, Hyde & Barbour’s Winchester Non-profit Team strolled the town on September 10, 2011, as they participated in a 5k walk sponsoring The Laurel Center. The Laurel Center is a local shelter for abused women and domestic violence. The ladies were excited about the opportunity to be able to give back to the community.
Stress Busters – January through April brings tax season. We work many many hours and see our colleagues more than our families. But, not to worry – we provide Stress Busters to help lighten the spirits. Friday lunches and Saturday breakfasts are provided to keep up our strength. We also hold contests: Chili cooking; jelly bean counting; and, maybe even tricycle racing.
